About

Fashion Institute Arnhem

The Fashion Institute was founded in 1998 by Angelique Westerhof and Pieter ‘t Hoen as a one year post-graduate fashion design course.
The course originated out of the necessity for a better connection between higher vocational fashion designers and the international work field. The Fashion Institute is post-graduate course of ArtEZ, funded by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sciences.

Points of departure
The course is meant for fashion designers who wish to refine their personal signature and develop their skills as independent designers.

During the year students work under conditions that simulate the reality of an independent fashion designer. Professionals from the work field will provide individual coaching.

The course seeks to encourage students to work independently by attending workshops at home and abroad, and by participating in real-life events like fashion design fairs and presentations with professional couturiers.

The Fashion Institute hopes to create an atmosphere in which students influence one another. Team building is an indirect goal within the scheme of the post-graduate course; it can be of major importance to a student’s initial creative growth but also to the whole group as propagators of the Dutch design of tomorrow.
